Adv. Compos. Hybrid Mater. (IF 23.2): Sandwich-Structured SiO2/SWCNT@Ni Composite Film with Superior Electromagnetic Shielding and Thermal Insulation Performance in Extreme Environments
Challenge: With continuous exploration of extreme space environments, intense cosmic radiation and extreme high temperatures pose significant challenges to astronauts' research work.
Approach: The team led by Academician Chang-Yu Shen and Professor Chun-Tai Liu at Zhengzhou University, including Duo Pan, developed SiO2/SWCNT@Ni composite films with electromagnetic shielding and thermal insulation properties. Using SiO2 nanofibers, single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT)-dispersed polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) solution, and Ni(NO3)2 as raw materials, the films were prepared through high-temperature carbon reduction process.
Innovation: With 9 wt% SWCNT content, the SiO2/SWCNT9@Ni film demonstrates an average EMI shielding effectiveness of 39.4 dB and thermal conductivity of 0.0405 W/m·K. Additionally, SiO2/SWCNT9@Ni exhibits excellent flame retardant properties.
