Challenge: Developing advanced protective textiles is crucial for combating global pandemics. However, creating fabrics that simultaneously meet high comfort, safety, and mass-production requirements remains challenging.

Approach: Researcher Yu Hao's team (Academician Zhu Meifang, Donghua University) combined organic-inorganic hybridization with asynchronous stretching to develop a scalable hybrid PTFE nanofiber membrane (HPNFM) for pathogen protection.

Innovation 1: The unique radial "island-chain" nanoporous structure provides exceptional waterproofness and breathability, enhancing comfort. Combined with surface-exposed antimicrobial nanoparticles using coupled electrostatic induction and ROS pathogen-killing mechanisms, it achieves efficient antibacterial/antiviral properties.

Innovation 2: HPNFM-based protective suits break the "trilemma" of safety-comfort-scalability, showing great potential against future "Disease X" outbreaks to safeguard public health.
